I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. I am Tammy Heidler the new School Community Coordinator here at Schiel. Please stop in the Parent Center, in its new location, on the 2nd floor by the University Street side of the building. I am anxious to meet all of you! The enthusiasm for volunteering here at Schiel is so exciting! I hope to continue many of the same offerings that Sharry had available to parents and start a few new things. Together we can make Schiel the "place to be!" For the months of August and September you helped with the vision screenings, attended Suzuki sessions, helped in the classrooms, help with the Book Fair, and brought treats to classrooms. Many parents were involved with the "Third Grade Book Club." They brought their child to school early on all Wednesdays in September! Thank you all so much for all of your help! The Parent Center has many books and materials to assist you. Books may be checked out by parents at any time, but must be returned within 2 weeks. There are many books available for parents to read with their child. Besides wonderful books to read for pleasure, there are great books that are math related, books that deal with divorce, anger, adoption, and much more. Materials are available to help with reading and math such as math worksheets, flash cards, bingo games and letter puzzles. The Parent Center, also, has information to assist you with housing, food pantries, utilities, community centers, and other social services. Schiel PSAE is always looking for volunteers to help at school. |
